Questions, answered.
Short, plain answers about Avenrow, the calendar-first iPhone app for cleaners and solo service pros. Avenrow is in private beta, so some details may still change.
The basics
What is Avenrow?
Avenrow is an iPhone app that keeps your work schedule and your money in one place. You put jobs on the calendar, mark them done when you finish, and each finished job counts as earned automatically. When a client pays, you record it. There’s no separate bookkeeping to do.
It replaces the mix of a phone calendar, notes and a spreadsheet that many solo service pros use to remember who they’re seeing and who still owes them.
Who is Avenrow for?
Solo cleaners with recurring clients. These are people who work on-site all day and need to see at a glance what’s next and what they’ve earned.
Is Avenrow only for cleaners?
No. It’s designed around a cleaner’s week, but it works for any independent service pro who visits clients on a schedule, such as pool service, landscaping, handyman work or pet care. It isn’t a CRM or a dispatch tool for teams.
How it works
How does Schedule → Complete → Earned work?
It’s one loop:
- Schedule. Add a job to the calendar for a client and location, with its price.
- Complete. When the work is finished, tap Mark done.
- Earned. The job’s amount is added to Earned automatically.
Scheduled jobs don’t count as earned until they’re done. Payment is a separate step (see below).
Does completing a job mean the client paid?
No. Completing a job means you earned it, not that you were paid. A finished job stays Unpaid until you record a payment, and until then its amount shows as Owed. Avenrow keeps the two apart on purpose, so you always know what’s finished and what’s actually been paid.
How does Paid / Received work?
When a client pays, open the job and tap Mark as paid. The amount moves to Received, and Owed goes down. If they pay part of it, you can record a partial payment. The job stays unpaid until the full amount is in. You can also mark a client’s whole balance as paid at once.
Recording a payment only updates your records. Avenrow doesn’t collect or move money.
Can I use recurring jobs?
Yes. A job can repeat weekly, every 2 weeks or monthly. A repeating job needs a location, and each visit appears on your calendar.
Does Avenrow support fixed and hourly pricing?
Yes. Each job has either a fixed price or an hourly rate. For hourly jobs, you enter the time worked when you complete the job. You can also add an extra or a tip when completing a job.
Can I import or sync a calendar?
Yes, as a read-only import. You can pick calendars that are already on your iPhone, such as Google or iCloud calendars, or paste a private .ics link from a work calendar.
The first time an event comes in, you match it to a client and location. After that, future events with the same title on that calendar become jobs automatically. When an event is moved or removed in your calendar, the scheduled job updates too.
Avenrow only reads these calendars and never changes them. It checks for updates when you open the app and while it’s open, but not while it’s closed. Repeating calendar events aren’t imported yet. Add those as a repeating job in Avenrow instead.
What are Clients, Locations and Services?
Clients are the people you work for. Locations are the places you work. Each location can have a usual price and notes that show on every job there, like a gate code or where to park. Services is an optional list of what you offer, which you can pick on a job when it helps.
Money and invoices
What does the Money screen show?
For a day, a pay period or a month:
- Earned: completed jobs, counted automatically.
- Received: payments you’ve recorded.
- Owed: finished work that hasn’t been paid yet.
- Expenses: costs you record.
- Net: Earned minus Expenses.
A pay period can be weekly, every two weeks or twice a month.
Can I track expenses?
Yes. Record costs like supplies, fuel or parking. Link an expense to a job to see that job’s profit, or keep it as a general expense. Expenses are subtracted from Earned to give Net.
Can I create invoices?
Yes, with Pro. Create a PDF invoice from finished work and share it with your client. When they pay and you record the payment, the same invoice is marked Paid.
Avenrow doesn’t take card payments or process payments of any kind. Your invoice can include your own payment instructions.
Can I see the whole year or export my records?
Yes. Records & reports shows your yearly figures and can export jobs, payments, expenses and invoices as CSV files. Avenrow doesn’t calculate taxes or decide which expenses are deductible.
Voice
What does Voice do?
Voice lets you add a job by speaking, the way you’d text it. For example: “Maple Street 14, Friday at ten, one‑twenty, every week.” Avenrow turns that into a draft job with the location, time, price and repeat filled in. You check the draft before it’s saved. You can also say more than one job at once, or type instead of speaking.
Voice is part of Pro and needs an internet connection.
Account, offline and data
Do I need an account?
No. There’s no sign-up and no Avenrow account. Open the app and start adding jobs.
Does Avenrow work offline?
Yes. Your schedule and money live on your iPhone, so you can add jobs, mark them done, record payments and check Money without a connection. A few things need the internet: Voice, calendar links (.ics) and iCloud backup.
Where is my data stored? Can I back it up?
Your business data is stored on your iPhone. If you want a backup, you can turn on optional iCloud backup, which keeps a copy in your own private iCloud that only your Apple ID can open. You can also save a backup file yourself and restore from it.
The full privacy policy will be published before public launch.
Availability and plans
Is Avenrow available now?
Avenrow is in a private beta on iPhone, run through Apple’s TestFlight. It isn’t on the App Store yet, and there’s no public sign-up at the moment.
Which platforms are supported?
Avenrow is an iPhone app. There’s no Android version and no web app.
What’s the difference between Free and Pro?
The plans aren’t final and may change before launch. The current plan is:
- Free: the core app, meaning jobs, the calendar, payments, Money and backup. It works offline, with no account. It has a limit on active clients and locations.
- Pro: everything in Free, with no client or location limit, plus Voice and invoice creation.
Prices, limits and trial details haven’t been decided. The plans shown on the home page are a preview, not an offer.
